preparing for the future
“In the future we are going to have a real challenge finding the right people,” says Inge Colson, director HR & communication Aalberts advanced mechatronics. “This is not only because the population is aging across society, with many people leaving the workforce and taking their skills with them, but also because fewer young people are starting careers in industry. Often this is because they don’t know that interesting jobs are available within the technical sector.”
She continues, “Beyond that, the world is changing fast, and technological innovation is no exception. It is essential that we stay connected to the younger generations who will develop tomorrow’s technologies. To find the talent we need, we work with external partners to share what we offer at Aalberts: the opportunity to make a difference in ground-breaking industries.”
partnering with universities
One way we do this is by partnering with universities, which gives us the
opportunity to share the unique ways in which we solve problems and create
solutions with students who could one day become part of our workforce. We do
this not only by attending career fairs, but also by offering our technologies
and expertise to students’ design and research projects, such as the solar
car developed by students at the Eindhoven University of Technology.
reintegration of the unemployed
Another one of our initiatives involves partnering with the Employee Insurance Agency in the Netherlands (the Uitvoeringsinstituut Werknemersverzekeringen, or UWV, in Dutch). Through this partnership we offer trainings and other support to the unemployed to prepare them for a technical career at Aalberts advanced mechatronics.
