Aalberts strengthens advanced mechatronics group by acquiring Isel Germany AG
Aalberts N.V. has reached an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of Isel Germany AG (ISEL), a German firm specialized in wafer handling and robotics as well as machine systems with digital services. Isel will join forces with IDE, a part of the Aalberts advanced mechatronics group based in Raunheim, Germany. The acquisition will strengthen Aalberts’ advanced mechatronics portfolio and expand its manufacturing footprint in Germany.
Founded in 1972 by Hugo Isert, Isel is based in Eichenzell and Eiterfeld, generates an annual revenue of approximately 35 million euros, and has 200 employees. Isel combines mechanics, electronics, and software knowledge to develop, engineer, and manufacture wafer handling, robotics, and machine systems with digital services. Isel manufactures most of the components needed for these systems in-house and is able to offer completely customized advanced mechatronics solutions. The company is active in the semicon efficiency and industrial niches end markets.
Isel has a long history of collaborating with IDE. “Combining the strengths and knowledge of Isel and IDE will build on our existing relationship, drive significant future growth, and create multiple business opportunities,” said Thomas Breser, Managing Director IDE. “These opportunities include combined offerings and co-development of new mechatronic and software systems. I am excited to lead this group and secure the long-term success of both companies, our customers, and of course all employees.”
Werner Kister, Board Member Isel Germany AG, added, “Now that the Hugo Isert era is over it is critical that Isel continue to develop, so choosing the right strategic partner was immensely important to us. Isel’s 50-plus years of experience in the field of automation will add a lot of value to the new group and synergies between our companies will bring growth and long-term success for both IDE and Isel.”
“Aalberts advanced mechatronics is growing fast to keep up with intense customer demand, and combining forces with likeminded partners like Isel enables us to not only grow but also improve as an organization,” said Wim Waeghe, CEO Aalberts advanced mechatronics. “I am truly excited that we can welcome Isel’s great people into our group and find ways to work together to deliver even more value to our customers.”
