Advanced mechatronics expands capacity in the Netherlands

To expand manufacturing capacity and keep up with rapid growth in the semicon industry, have made an agreement with the municipality of Dronten to purchase a 12-hectare building plot at De Poort van Dronten industrial estate. Mogema (part of Aalberts advanced mechatronics) serves this demanding industry by producing large and extremely accurate aluminum and steel frames for the manufacture of semicon production machinery.

The demand for microchips has increased enormously in recent years, and Aalberts advanced mechatronics expects  continued growth in the semicon industry for years to come. “In order to optimally serve the market and meet demand, we are making major investments across our company to scaleup production capacity and improve our facilities,” says Wim Waeghe, CEO Aalberts advanced mechatronics. “Investing in the Dutch manufacturing industry offers us many opportunities in terms of innovation as well as employment.”

Bas Bonnier, Managing Director Mogema, adds, “We have been established in ‘t Harde for over 70 years, and we are now outgrowing ourselves and further expansion at that site will not be sufficient. Dronten offers us plenty of space and is centrally located and easily accessible. By building there, we can continue to grow long-term.”

Bonnier continues, “The factory will offer many mutual benefits for Mogema and Dronten. For example, we will incorporate sustainable solutions at every stage of construction, contributing to both our own and the municipality’s ambitions to be more sustainable. Furthermore, we will soon be starting  major recruitment activities to hire skilled workers like CNC millers, welders, and cleanroom employees.”

The new factory in Dronten is scheduled to be ready early 2025 and production will follow shortly after. The site also has room for further expansion in the future. In parallel with the construction of the new factory, the Mogema factory in ‘t Harde is being modernised and expanded to optimise the production process.
